Which is better for an indirect tooth restoration, silver alloy or ceramic resins/porcelain?
the tooth, which has old filling work throughout, looks to be cracking and the dentist has said to either wait for one edge to come loose and fix it, or get in there now beforehand and restore it with silver, or for more expense, ceramic something-or-other
Silver fillings contain 50% liquid mercury and all of these amalgam fillings have infection under them; all of them. Think about what mercury has been used for in the scientific field for centuries. Thermometers. Why? Because it expands and contracts better than any other metal. When it is in your tooth and you experience hot and cold, what do you think the mercury does? It expands and contracts. This can cause teeth fracturing.
Amalgam fillings do not bond to the teeth. The dentist has to drill the tooth in such a way to create a reverse wedge for the filling to stay in place. This leaves a small interstitial space between the amalgam filling and the tooth. This is where infection happens. This is where the mercury leaches out into your mouth as mercury vapor. You swallow this and the liver converts this vapor to mercuric ions that go to your brain and other parts of your body.
Go to the following web site and see what happens to your brain tissue. http://movies.commons.ucalgary.ca/mercury/
This video is about 5 minutes long and is from the University of Calgary School of Medicine research project that demonstrates conclusively what happens to brain tissue when exposed to mercury. The amount of mercury they used in this experiment is 100 to 1,000 times LESS than what you get when you brush just one of your amalgam fillings. The ADA and Canadian Government have chosen to ignore these findings on the basis that the project did not conclusively prove that the mercury used in the experiment caused Alzheimer's disease, even though the experiment shows conclusive evidence that mercury can create this problem. These people are not our friends.
If your dentist is installing amalgam fillings, I would get another dentist that cares about YOUR health more than his profits.
Ceramic has a hardness of about 300, the same as your tooth and if bonded properly is permanent and there is no interstitial space created between the new work and your tooth. As long as the dentist doesn't rely on hypochlorite that only kills about 30% of the bacteria, and uses a laser to sanitize, you have a chance of getting a good job done.
If your dentist CANNOT answer all the following 9 questions in a positive way, you have the wrong dentist working on you:
1. Does he use digital x-rays and not analog x-rays that produce 10 times the radiation?
2. Does he use Septocaine as the anesthetic? Lidocaine and Carbocaine are extremely toxic and can compound infections in other teeth.
3. Does your dentist use a rubber dam to prevent toxins and garbage from entering your body?
4. Does your dentist use an exhaust system to dispose of the toxic mercury vapor and other materials from getting into the room and you?
5. Does your dentist use medical grade tubing to supply you with purified air to your nostrils?
6. Does your dentist use dye staining to determine where decay is exactly on your tooth?
7. Does your dentist use a dental laser to disinfect?
8. Does your dentist use low-fusing ceramics or ceramic/hybrids to replace fillings?
9. Does your dentist use a light curing device to permanently bond a new inlay or crown?
good luck
