Why Does Opera give me goosebumps?
Has anyone else ever experienced Opera singing giving you goose bumps? I love opera, and i thought at first it was the volume of it that made my hair stand on end or that it was the sheer beauty of the sound and it was all in my head. I understand how goosebumps work well enough. They are an obsolete evolutionary trait that happens when we're cold. Why? because when we get cold the follicle underneath the hair contracts to make the hair to stand on end to create a space between the hairs for better protection against the cold and to trap the air betwixt and keep it warm. The other reason for it is from fear, the hair stands up to make us look scarier and wilder than the predator.
So the question still remains, why do people get goosebumps when they hear opera? I know it's not just me, and someone on the internet HAS to know.
Strong emotions excite the brain and lead the body to release adrenalin, which causes the goosebumps. That beautiful opera music is getting you all hot and bothered! You got all them neurons firing!!
