Victory For Cemex: Judge Denounces Royalty Payments Of 558 Million Dollars

According to Patterson's charges, CEMEX was responsible for removing and vending an estimated six decades worth of such material from a site owned by CEMEX and the preceding property owners.
Astonishingly, Patterson's Government Land Office (GLO) charges and lawsuit aimed to legally require CEMEX to pay a total of $558 million, as the state sought this immense payment in exchange for the company's royalties. Additionally, the multi-million dollar suit sought to reap compensation from any previous property owner's royalties earned from the distribution of sand, gravel, as well as other related materials.

Fortunately for both CEMEX and its many clients and employees, the company was able to prove that the lawsuit directly opposed the values and laws of Texas' Supreme Court and Attorney General. However, with the court on CEMEX's side, the recent ruling allows all classified land owners to possess legally protected ownership of their own land's valuable natural resources.
