Back To Basics – A Crash Course On One Of The Basics Of Make - Up Foundation
With the much awaited fashion fiesta of B-town Lakmé Fashion Week under way, fashion fever is certainly in the air. While dressing top-notch is important in fashion circles, looking great is crucial. At such a time, the right kind of make-up can turn you into the damsel who makes heads turn. And good make-up requires a good base.
So, after you are done with cleansing, toning and moisturising your face, start with the first and basic step of creating a background for you to apply your make-up on — the foundation.
Pick the right one

Choosing the right foundation for your skin is very vital, since, a shade gone wrong can damage your entire look, making you look dull and ‘cakey'. Here are some tips by Berzin Irani*:
• Always go for a colour that is closest to your skin tone.
• Those with a fair skin can choose foundation that is a shade brighter.
• Darker complexions can choose a tone darker than their Natural Skin colour.
• Wheatish skin can go in for one tone darker or one tone fairer.
• Always test the foundation on the inner side of the wrist since this is the part of the skin, which is least exposed to sunlight.
• Match the shade by testing the shade on the chin, front tip of the nose and cheek bones.
How to apply
Once you have found the right shade, apply the foundation carefully, following a step-by-step method of application.
• First and foremost clean your hands and face to remove dirt and dust.
• Foundations set well on hydrated skin, so the next step should be to apply a moisturiser, sunscreen or a primer that suits your skin.
• Its best to go in for a primer since it covers the pores, and creates a soft, smooth skin surface for the foundation to last longer.
• Now use your finger tips to dab the foundation, making little dots on your skin, taking care to cover dark circles. Spread it evenly over your cheeks, chin, forehead and the tip of nose.
• Further, with the help of fingers or a sponge blend all the dots in outward sweeping strokes for even application.
• Apply around the nose, mouth and jaw line with special attention, making sure that the foundation vanishes in the end.
• After the foundation has been applied evenly, set it with a Loose Powder or compact so that it lasts longer.
Dos and don'ts
Berzin suggests some dos and don'ts to keep in mind while choosing and applying the foundation.
• Avoid foundations that are more than two tones darker than your skin colour.
• Don't rub the foundation into the skin like a cream, which causes visible foundation lines on the face.
• For Oily Skin avoid moisturising foundation.
• Liquid Foundation should be applied faster since it tends to dry up faster.
• Cream-based foundation sets well with the application of compact or translucent powder on it.
Once the foundation is in place, you can easily work your way with other specific makeup touches for that dazzling look. Stand out and enjoy the attention, as fashionistas whisper "Who's she? She looks gorgeous!"

Ideas on good, inexpensive Makeup Foundation?
I need some new foundation. I like mine where your able to see it & it makes your skin look great. Anybody have any tips on a good, inexpensive foundation? Creme or powder; either works well. Thanks. (:
not really sure about inexpensive, your price range..but i love Revlon Colorstay mineral Mousse Makeup...my skin isnt the greatest but i still dont need to use a ton ( im one of those that puts foundation All Over, not just on trouble spots)...it was about $10...it is so light but it provides great coverage..it's great!
I like you to be able to tell when you are wearing makeup too..Although this is light it definately doesn't look like you aren't wearing anthing
