Are You a Future Centenarian?
Am I A Future Centenarian??
If you are male, that's a severe disadvantage, as 90% of the living Centenarian's are female.
Still I'm optomistic.
Results from my physical just came back... and they confirm what I've been feeling all summer... 52 is the new 40? Well maybe...
Rewind to early summer, June- I got fed up with a lack of energy, persistent leg pain and weakness (diagnosed as an issue but no cause known), lack of hiking ability- a hill almost killed me, and a concern that maybe, just maybe my brain wasn't working as well as it should...
I began running with my wife- or should I say watching her butt disappear in the distance? 2-300 yards was a lot that first week... then walk, then another few hundred yards...within 10 days my leg weakness was gone and I'd run a mile. Within a month, I could run 2 miles. I still can't run with her- but maybe I'll be able to by next summer.
My wife, who has fed our entire family a steady diet of fruit/vegetabels and whole foods for decades watched with approval and that "I told you so look" that wives reserve for their husbands.
So I took her advice, and doubled down on brain food, adding much more ... more tomatoes, more leafy greens, more broccoli, and ,my favorite, blueberries with just about everything. I've become a big fan again of apple juice and the results have been amazing...
12 lbs lost, 137/70 blood pressure, no issues with cholesterol, no medications of any kind... thinking better, feeling better, and yes feeling a bit younger.
This weekend I'll run a 5k in the Komen Race for the cure in Charlotte... my first 5k ever.
